Deborah Brown

About

Deborah Brown joins Coastal Vein and Vascular Specialists after 10 years of experience working with Yale New Haven Hospital, including 8 years helping lead the inpatient vascular surgery team. In this role, she oversaw complex inpatients both pre- and post-surgery, and served as frontline for emergency room and inpatient consults. Prior to that time, she worked in a breast center as the lead APRN for breast surgery.

Deborah has a global background. She was born in Canada to British parents, and grew up on Saint Croix in the Virgin Islands. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Atlanta, she worked as a teaching assistant in San Diego and then moved to New Haven, CT, where she attended Yale University, completing her Master of Science in Nursing. Deborah excelled in academia and performed extra course work at Yale, ultimately graduating with a dual certification as both an Adult Nurse Practitioner and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and becoming board certified in both areas.

During her time at Yale New Haven Hospital, Deborah developed a passion for vascular surgery. She also was deeply committed to the hospital community, mentoring numerous Yale students and surgical residents, and, in her time off, training her English cream retriever, Bob, to be a certified therapy dog. Together she and Bob provided pet therapy to patients and staff.

Deborah met her husband when he was a resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. They recently moved, with Bob, to Jupiter to be closer to family and to enjoy the warm, tropical climate. They have quickly embraced Florida life and can be found most weekend mornings at Jupiter dog beach!
